Arrival Story:
Toby “the street dog,” found his way off the tough streets of Killeen
and into our hearts on November 3rd 2002. Mike and Margaret
left our house at 11:00 p.m. following Dan’s birthday party and, on
their way home, found a cold-wet mop of fur wandering our neighborhood.
Mike called the house asking us to bring a leash down to the corner
because, “There’s a stray dog and I can’t get him in my truck.” Well, I
brought the leash got it attached to Toby and then Mike and Margaret
decided we looked good together. A quick call to Michelle and she told
us it was o.k. to bring him back to the house. The plan was to clean
him up and start looking for the owner in the morning. Now, Toby
doesn’t have much going for him at this point, but cuteness he had in
spades. By the time we had exhausted the search for “the street dog’s”
owners we had already started calling him Toby (because it sounded like
a tough street dog name), and once you name something it’s yours. So
Toby’s been living a life of leisure ever since.

Bio:
For their part in his arrival we named Mike and Margaret God Parents.
The growing pains with Toby were not easy, but thankfully they were
short-lived. The holes he chewed through the drywall have been
replaced, as has the baseboard and door molding. Toby has taken to his
new life and while he does not appreciate sleeping-in as much as the
rest of the troop (and often doesn’t let us), he does relish a good nap,
one of our favorite past-times! He is great with kids and other dogs.
Toby’s as sweet as pie and as sharp as a marble.
