The Friday Five

The Friday Five is an idea started by one of the first prominent bloggers. Each Friday she posts five questions on her Blog and many of her fans follow suit on their own. It’s an interesting way to learn about the folks who visit your Blog. Every Friday I will either post her current Five, or raid some of her older questions.

Your job is to check-in each Friday, answer the five questions and see what others have to say (you might be surprised).

It’s easy to view what others have added and to post your own answers. At the bottom of each post there is a tag line that says “Posted by author at time | Comments (#)” If you click on the “Comments” link a new window will open and you just fill in the information and type your answer. Couldn’t be easier! After you post the (#) should update to show how many folks have posted their own answers (It doesn’t always update, so it’s worth checking even if it says “0”).

We’d also encourage you to add comments to any of the other posts that interest you.

And finally, this weeks FRIDAY FIVE:

1. Where were you born (city or state or just country)?
San Antonio, Texas—So posting to Fort Hood was like coming home. O.k., not really. A lot of folks down here have bumper stickers that say, “I wasn’t born in Texas, but I got here as fast as I could.” They make me laugh. Don’t get me wrong, I love Texas. I just don’t want to live here anymore. I miss the seasons, especially autumn with the leaves changing color. I also miss East Coast food: Pizza, Bagels, and Dunk’n Donuts. Although, I’m sure I’ll miss the BBQ and Tex-Mex when we leave here.

2. What is your favorite number?
I’m gonna go with 27. It’s not my “lucky” number-I don’t believe in that sort of thing-but, definitely my favorite. It starts out with a “2”, I’m not big on even numbers but 2 is the best of that easily divided lot. It ends with a “7”, a great number: it’s odd, it rhymes with heaven, and it’s everywhere: 7 days in a week, the 7 seas, the 7 Dwarfs (can you name them?), and a 7-11 on every corner. When you put them together as 27 there is even more reason. As I said, I have an affinity for odd numbers. 3 is odd, and 27 is 3 to the 3rd power. I’m sure you are convinced now, and 27 is your favorite too.

3. Vanilla or chocolate?
Chocolate of course!

4. What section of a bookstore would I find you in?
The Fiction/Literature section. I’ve tried to break into non-fiction, and while I have enjoyed many histories and biographies I always return to the literature section.

5. What are your plans for the weekend?
I hope you all have some great plans, because my plan is to sit here at work, read what your plans are, and daydream vicariously.

First of all....Dopey, Happy, Sleepy, Grumpy, Sneezy...nope, I guess I can't..anyone?

Second of all...Dan, you are a little wacko about your fav number, but I can see you've put a lot of thought into it!

Also, for anyone else who'd like to answer, it's a bit easier to copy someone else's post into the comments window and then change their answers to your own. That way, you don't have to retype the questions etc.

Here goes:

1. Where were you born (city or state or just country)?
Good ole Morristown, NJ USA. My mom still works there, at the hospital where I was born!

2. What is your favorite number?

Unlike Dan, I much prefer even numbers...perhaps it is due to my propensity for neatness (they divide evenly and all)...I could've told you Dan would pick an odd number based on that theory!!! just kidding, honey =) But I don't really have a
favorite number. I might pick 22 because I like the symmetry.

3. Vanilla or chocolate?
BOTH!!! With peanut butter sauce or caramel or any number of delicious toppings! I'm certainly not a purist! My new favorite ice cream treat is is PB ice cream on a salty pretzel cone!!! YUM!

4. What section of a bookstore would I find you in?
Definitely Biographies, although I do enjoy a good novel. But I am most inspired by the courage and triumphs of other human beings.

pssst...Dan is lying! He LOVES sci-fi and don't let him tell you any different!!!

5. What are your plans for the weekend?

Well, today I'm nursing a bit of laryngitis and then I have to do lots of chores! But Saturday Lisa and I are getting pedicures to start the summer off right! Unfortunately it sounds like it will be pouring rain all weekend. But that will keep me from having to pick up dog poo, so I'm not really complaining! THen again, if it never stops raining, I may never get my sprinkler system put in.

Although it doesn't sound like much, I'm definitely looking forward to my pedicure and some RELAXATION!!!! It's been a crazy few weeks!

Hope you all enjoy your weekend!!!

1. Where were you born (city or state or just country)?
San Fransisco, CA, USA.
yes, I was born on the left coast...I love it over there...I'd probably be good for me to move back there sometime and straighten out some of the socialists that populate that beautiful state!

2. What is your favorite number?
I have a few:
2007 (year I get outta the army!)
'76 (model of my International Scout II)
22 (months I've been married to my gorgeous wife)
215 (HBF--need I say more?)

3. Vanilla or chocolate?
if we're speaking of ice cream, I ain't got time for V or C...give me coffee with dark chocolate sauce.

4. What section of a bookstore would I find you in?
the used section or the online section. books are meant to be re-read...

5. What are your plans for the weekend?
TBS. other than that, I'll probably come in to the office once or twice...I've got some things I need to take care of...

First of all, I can name one more dwarf: Doc. Now we only need one more!!

1. Where were you born (city or state or just country)?

Drexel Hill, Pennsylvania, in Delaware Country Memorial Hospital, just down the road from where my Dad was born!

2. What is your favorite number?

I like the numbers 3 and 4 or any combination thereof. No particular reason.

3. Vanilla or chocolate?

Swirl!

4. What section of a bookstore would I find you in?

Honestly, I don't have a favorite section, but I do spend a lot of time in the pet section when we're in Barnes and Noble. A few "Tails from the Barkside" never hurt anyone!

5. What are your plans for the weekend?

That question is not cool. Anyway, I am actually getting to spend quite a bit of it (relatively speaking, of course) with Mike, so it isn't half bad.

That's Delaware COUNTY Memorial Hospital for question number one........I should have previewed my post! Well, it is 0600, and I've been up since 0420, is that a good excuse??

To answer the dwarf question, I could cheat and look it up online, but I'll be honest and admit that is one piece of trivia I do not have memorized. Okay, as for the questions...

1. Where were you born (city or state or just country)?
I was born in Louisville, Kentucky, while my dad was stationed at Fort Knox. Outside of those introductory years, I have not spent much time in my birth state.

2. What is your favorite number?
Honestly, I have not given this question much thought, before today. With my job in a bank, I spend my days surrounded by numbers. So I could give you a bunch of numbers that provide motivation for me. 1%. 4%. 75%. 2,900. 293,000. 1.16 million. 2.5 million. 300 million. I could provide a philosophical answer like 1. Because often, that is all it takes, just 1. Another business-related answer would be zero. I like it so much, I like to see them as often as possible with a different number in front of all those 0's for a little variety. I am trying to be funny on that last one. For a real answer, I guess I would have to say 144. I like even numbers. It has a square root, 12. And it is easily divisible by a variety of numbers.

3. Vanilla or chocolate?
Chocolate. There is just much more variety. Vanilla there are only two types that I can think of, French and regular.

4. What section of a bookstore would I find you in?
I guess there are several. I would start in the history section, specifically if biographies is nearby. Then look in the science section. After that, check science fiction. And who knows where after that.

5. What are your plans for the weekend?
I wanted to see who the Redskins drafted first (Sean Taylor, Safety, Miami, the player I wanted them to draft). Then I was planning to catch up on some e-mail, which this counts as part of . Then I have some shopping to do and who knows about tomorrow.

Where were you born?
Richmond Memorial Hospital in Staten Island, NY

What is your favorite number?
Six has always been my favorite...I loved being six years old.

Vanilla or Chocolate?
Chocolate, Chocolate, Chocolate and more Chocolate!!!

What section of a bookstore would I be found in?
Well...that's a little tricky...I can get lost for hours in a good bookstore. I spend a lot of time in the young readers section looking for a good read for Matt ( he likes biographies and history). Much time is also spent in the history/military section searching for books for Steve. For myself, I'm usually in the Christian book section looking for the old classics by A.W. Tozer, Oswald Chambers and D.L Moody. I always leave a bookstore having spent way too much money. The whole family has inherited this weakness for a bookstore.

What are your plans for the weekend?
This weekend is opening day for the Knowlton Little League. All day Saturday there were opening day activities at the field...a parade, exhibition games, home run derby (Matt made it to the finals) etc. Then on to another game with Steve in Blairstown. Tomorrow a memorial dedication down in Mendham, NJ, then back up to Blairstown for a doubleheader with Steve's travel team. We'll have friends from Oregon visiting with us as well, so we'll be busy all weekend, but having lot's of fun in the sun!

Bashful completes the dwarf list. (Sometimes I like to think that Mickey is a close personal friend of mine, but he didn't help me on that one.)

1. Where were you born (city or state or just country?)
Trenton, NJ
Even though I grew up down the road in Mercerville, NJ

2. What is your favorite number?
7
The day of the month in which I was born

3. Vanilla or chocolate?
Do I have to choose? I LOVE ice cream! Both and a whole lot more.

4. What section of a bookstore would I find you in?
Magazine section. If it has one. I don't enjoy reading books. (I think it has to do with my lack of attention.) I prefer Oprah's magazine.

5. What are your plans for the weekend?
Sleep. I had an exhausting week teaching school. The weather is supposed to be beautiful so a trip to the pool may be in order. And a stop a the gym. Oh yeah, can't forget about the schoolwork. Grading, grading and more grading.

Where were you born?
I was born in a hospital on the south side of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

What is your favorite number?
29 is my answer but it changes annually.

Vanilla or Chocolate?
Chocolate! It doesn't just mean ice cream to me. Any kind of chocolate is fine and I just learned that pregnant women who eat chocolate tend to have happier babies. Yippy!

What section of a bookstore would I be found in?
Fiction, of course.

What are your plans for the weekend?
I am going out for dinner tonight...why not start early? We are going out for Moroccan. Then I need to do something to get the nursery ready. I cannot believe we have less than two months left. I am also planning to see the Nalley Roswell Criterion (bike race). I will try to picture Dan riding with the group.
