This weeks FRIDAY FIVE:
1. What's your favorite time of day?
When I to talk to Michelle! We don’t get to talk every day, but when we do it is the highlight. To hear her voice on the other end of the line brings joy to my soul, a smile to my face, and a temporary reprieve to the longing in my heart. Even when we don’t talk her emails and posts about everything and nothing and all the minutiae of daily life remind me of home and what it is we are over here protecting.
2. What's your least favorite time of day?
Waking up - see next question.
3. Are you a morning person or a night owl? Does it cause any problems?
Dad always said, “you can’t stay up hooting with the owls, if you need to be ready to soar with the eagles in the morning.” Mom always said, “nothing good ever happens after 10:00 pm.” To Dad I say, you can sometimes do both (that’s what naps are for). To Mom I say, nothing happens at all before 10:00 pm in New Orleans. I’m an incurable night owl and would always prefer to stay up late rather than get up early.
4. If you had an entire worry- and obligation-free day, what would you do with it?
First of all I would sleep in. Then I’d whip up a big country breakfast with all the fixings, spend the day with Michelle and the pups walking some nature trails, going apple picking, and enjoying a beautiful autumn day. We’d wrap the day up with an evening for two at a nice restaurant, table by the fireplace, and then a hot bath before bedtime.
5. What are your plans for the weekend?
I hope you all have some great plans, because my plan is to sit here at work, read what your plans are, and daydream vicariously (this will be a recurring theme in my posts for the next year).
1. What's your favorite time of day?
Probably mid-morning. I'm most productive at this time of day.
2. What's your least favorite time of day?
Between 3-4 pm. This is the time of day when I realize that despite working hard all day, I have not crossed nearly enough items off my to do list. So despite my afternoon sleepiness, I must shift into hyperdrive just to return phone calls, faxes, etc., never mind completing the tasks that actually comprise my job description. Such is the life of a social worker.
3. Are you a morning person or a night owl? Does it cause any problems?
I really enjoyed Dan's answer to this question. I too am a night owl. This is how Dan and I end up staying up wayyyyyy too late watching movies and not getting our chores done the next day. Since Dan's departure, I find myself starting a lot of projects around 10pm because he is not there to remind me that it is time for bed!
4. If you had an entire worry- and obligation-free day, what would you do with it?
Well, sleeping in would be a great start. But I would most enjoy spending the day outside with Dan. No phones or electronic devices of any sort. Not necessarily doing any specific activity, but definitely having an adventure of some kind. Other favorite past times worthy of a whole days attention include reading, scrapbooking, and organizing. Geeky, I know, but I find it really satisfying and a great stress reliever.
5. What are your plans for the weekend?
Saturday I am going to sleep in...it's been early to rise all week. ( I HATE getting up before 7) Then I'll be scrapbooking on Saturday with Cindy and Lisa...and spending lots of quailty time with Cindy's new baby, Rachel. Sunday, Matt, Lisa, Tyler and I are going to the craft show and the airshow in Temple. We may also hit Sam's Club while we're there.
Have a great weekend everyone!
1. What's your favorite time of day?
Either 10:30 - noon b/c it is my planning period for school or bedtime, whenever that is.
2. What's your least favorite time of day?
6:30 when I wake up.
3. Are you a morning person or a night owl? Does it cause any problems?
I guess I'm a little of both. I enjoy the quiet nightime to get things done or watch a good movie. I also enjoy getting up early sometimes to go shopping and beat the crowds. No problems related to either that I can see.
4. If you had an entire worry- and obligation-free day, what would you do with it?
Sleeping in sounds good to me too. Go to a romatic comedy movie. Get pampered at a spa. Eat at TGI Friday's for dinner. (If there was one around b/c we don't have one here.) And veg in front of the tv the rest of the night.
5. What are your plans for the weekend?
At some point, grocery shopping has to be done. Possible shop for a new pair of brown sandles b/c mine broke while I was at school on Friday. Pay some bills. Mike has to umpire if they don't get rained out. (which is likely) And of course, grading and schoolwork. Not too exciting, huh?
Dan, if you get to bored, I'm sure I could fax you some papers to grade. Take care.
1. What's your favorite time of day?
I never really thought about this. Believe it or not, it's either dusk or dawn, but only when I'm outside to witness it. I like to see the way the sun hits at those times.
2. What's your least favorite time of day?
Currently, it's any time of day I'm at work here in lovely Iraq. I HATE THIS PLACE!
3. Are you a morning person or a night owl? Does it cause any problems?
I've never really been a morning person, but I admit that I do like when I get up earlier how many more hours there seems to be in the day! Funny thing is, I'm not really a night owl either. Hmmm. The only problems not being a morning person causes is that I hate getting up to do PT.
4. If you had an entire worry- and obligation-free day, what would you do with it?
Ah, that's easy. I would spend it with Mikey and our babies......doing something outside (seems to be a common theme here!), and then we would cap the day off with maybe a BBQ and a late night movie. A fire in the chiminea would be good as well. The inside activities are necessary so that Maddie Cat can participate!
5. What are your plans for the weekend?
This question is STILL not cool.
I just want to say that I need to preview these entries before I post them. I apologize for any grammatical errors I have committed!!!!
Sorry for the late posting, but I forgot about the Friday 5... anyway...
1. What's your favorite time of day?
Probably between 2 PM and 5 PM. I feel the most active during that time. Also it is late enough in the day to be warm and beautiful, but early enough to still get a fair amount done.
2. What's your least favorite time of day?
Between 4 and 6 AM. Not much time left to sleep, too much time to wake up.
3. Are you a morning person or a night owl? Does it cause any problems?
Let me answer that this way. If I had my preference I would be a night owl. However, with work I am turning into a morning person. I am starting to wake up, fully awake and get tired before my bedtime, a rather pedestrian 10 PM.
4. If you had an entire worry-and obligation-free day, what would you do with it?
Can I have two days? Because to really accomplish what I want to accomplish in this hypothetical day, I would need to sleep in the next day. So, I'm going to work with the assumption I can sleep in the next day. So, day one I would sleep in, followed by lunch, which would be a sandwich from a deli and a lemon iced tea Snapple. I would then go to a sporting event of some sort, followed by a nice dinner somewhere and spending the evening listening to live music of some sort out somewhere.
5. What are/were your plans for the weekend?
Since I am writing this in the past tense, I thought I could change the question. Friday, I stayed in and watched movies on cable. Saturday I spent with Freddy's family as they celebrated his birthday. Sunday, I read and played on the Internet. Talk to you next week.
I'm also late in posting...I might as well wait for tomorrow's Friday Five. But I'm doing this one to remind myself of tomorrow's!
1. Favorite time of day - 8:00pm when I get off of work and go home to Derek and Moxie. Then my time is my own!
2. Worst time of day - 4:30pm when I have to leave to pick up my kiddies from school. I love them, but I've always hated that time when it feels like the day is over and it starts getting darker etc. It's just so hard to start working when when I know Derek is finishing and on his way home.
3. I am definately a night owl! I am with you Michelle on starting the projects around 10pm. That's when I get my second wind and start scrapbooking! It causes huge cyclical problems because Derek is a morning person and goes to bed at 9:00pm sometimes. So I stay up late, and then I want to sleep in late (which I can since I don't work till 5) but then I can't sleep again that night. And on weekends, I always feel like I should get up when Derek does so we don't waste the day. I end up being really tired on Mondays!
4. I would spend a free day with Derek...watch a few movies under a blanket, take a walk with Moxie, scrapbook while Derek tinkers with tools, and go out to dinner or maybe just Taco Bell at Target!
5.Last weekend was sooo busy. I had a crop club Friday night, National Scrapbook Day all day Saturday and then Derek's parents in the evening, and then Sunday school, church, a Blockbuster movie, and youth group at night on Sunday. I'm still recovering!
